What began as a dire cry for clean air and water fifty years ago has now reached a boiling point.
The climate is in a state of emergency that can no longer be ignored. South Carolinians of all walks of life are unifying in the optimism that
they each have a role to play in ending this crisis, no matter their age, race, income or education level.
On the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, South Carolinians are joining millions of others across the country in a day of learning and a day of action demanding that our political leaders respond to this emergency and that financial leaders stop funding climate destruction.
What’s unique about EARTH DAY SC is this is the first time we’ve seen an environmental activation that was carefully crafted at the grassroots to be nonpartisan, multigenerational, multiracial and interfaith.
Welcome to EARTH DAY SC. It took us fifty years to get here. Together we can avert climate catastrophe and restore the natural balance of our earth.
Renewable energy, not extractive
Sustainable land and water use
Divestment and other practical strategies to fight the climate crisis
We may not be able to celebrate EARTH DAY SC together in person this April 22,
but plan to join us in Columbia at the S.C. State House for EARTH DAY SC in September (Date TBA.)
